"Poems are made by fools like me
But only God can make a tree."
Joyce Kilmer had the right idea!
There's little we mortals can do to improve upon a tree. What we can
do is add to their numbers.
The vision of historic El Camino Real in Menlo Park transformed from a barren
commercial strip into a shaded, pedestrian-friendly boulevard lined with stately
rows of large trees is gaining momentum. The City Council has approved
funds to design the project and individual citizens have made financial
donations to the vision.
You can be part of Planting a Living Legacy. A living legacy of
over 400 trees, this generation's Year 2000 gift to future generations, will be
planted along El Camino Real, honoring El Camino's historic linkage to our
past. Palo Alto recently joined Menlo Park and other communities up and
down the Peninsula to support the vision.
